Captain Chris Pohl’s journey began in the early 1980’s, a time when radial engines still echoed around regional airfields, and propellers were still a familiar sight on airline ramps. He cut his teeth in the Australian outback, flying anything, anywhere, and anytime to build hours and experience. It was real flying; stick-and-rudder precision, raw decision-making, and the kind of hard-earned confidence that only comes from flying solo without an autopilot, in all weather, day and night.
Those early years shaped what would become his Flight Deck Philosophy: that technical knowledge, true airmanship, and mechanical sympathy for the machine are not optional extras, they are prerequisites for the safety of everyone seated behind the cockpit door.
